Redefine the embedded Linux experience with the smallest, most secure, and most reliable operating system in the IoT market. This role offers an opportunity for a technical engineering manager passionate about open source software, Linux, containers, security, and developer experience, to shape the future of Linux from small systems to desktops. The role demands high technical and management skills.

Our mission is to enable everyone to build robust solutions in fields like IoT, automotive, and aviation using the next-generation secure embedded Linux OS. We develop reliable device recovery mechanisms to simplify and standardize field operations for diverse appliances.

As an engineering manager, you'll lead a team of skilled software developers to design and implement Ubuntu Core system software across CPU architectures such as ARM, RISC-V, and x86. You will meet stakeholders, prioritize requests, plan roadmaps, and ensure your team meets its goals. You'll influence culture, facilitate technical delivery, and collaborate on strategy and execution.

What you'll do

  1. Build and lead a distributed team of engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development
  2. Contribute directly to your team's goals demonstrating sound engineering principles
  3. Support timely delivery of technical solutions to meet business needs
  4. Manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  5. Promote modern, agile software development practices and organizational excellence
  6. Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
  7. Participate actively in leadership and collaborate with other organizational leaders
  8. Work from home with biannual travel for company events

Who you are

  1. Passionate about technology and working with talented people
  2. Curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable
  3. Experienced in developing and growing engineering talent
  4. Knowledgeable and passionate about software development
  5. Experienced in leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers
  6. Capable of planning and executing high-quality, timely software delivery
  7. Proficient in agile development environments
  8. Holding a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
  9. Experienced with embedded software
  10. Skilled in Golang, C/C++, and Shell scripting
  11. Solid understanding of Linux, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
