About the Company
Our client is a well-established Hong Kong-based multinational trading group with expanding operations across South America. They are seeking a seasoned Trading Director to lead their mining and/or food commodities trading business in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business development and market expansion across South America (primarily Brazil, Argentina, and surrounding countries)
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key customers, suppliers, and partners
- Oversee all daily trading operations including sourcing, sales, logistics, pricing, and risk management
- Develop and execute regional profit strategies to drive sustainable growth and strong financial performance
- Act as the company’s senior representative in South America, ensuring alignment between local operations and global headquarters
- Collaborate closely with the Hong Kong/China headquarters and provide regular performance updates to senior management
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of proven trading experience, with a strong track record in mining (metals, minerals) and/or food commodities (grains, oilseeds, sugar, etc.)
- Extensive business development and deal-execution experience in South America
- Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken) is mandatory
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese will be a significant advantage
- Strong cross-cultural communication and leadership skills; comfortable operating in diverse international environments
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and deep understanding of cross-border trade regulations, logistics, and financing
- Willingness to relocate long-term to Brazil or Argentina
